I brought in my late father's automatic dress watch, which had been sitting unworn for several years. The team was straightforward about what it needed, sent me a written summary before starting, and the movement now runs better than I can remember. The communication was refreshingly clear — no surprises.

Had a cracked sapphire on a watch I wear every day. Horotempus matched the correct replacement and had it back to me in just over two weeks. The case refinishing they did alongside was subtle and appropriate — they did not over-polish it, which I appreciated. My watch looks looked-after rather than brand new.

I had a 1960s Swiss piece I was nervous about entrusting to anyone. From the first conversation, it was clear the team understood vintage watches differently from general repairers. They asked the right questions about what I wanted to preserve. The process took longer than I expected, but they kept me informed and the result was worth it.

My husband's watch had been gaining about 4 minutes a day. After the overhaul at Horotempus, it's been keeping good time for the past three months. What I liked most was that they explained exactly what was causing the issue before asking us to proceed. Very professional, no pressure at all.

Came in expecting to need a full service on a Japanese automatic. The team looked at it and told me the movement was actually in reasonable shape — just needed regulation, not a full overhaul. That kind of honesty is unusual. I had a less expensive service and the watch runs well. I will return when it does need the full service.

I was considering sending my grandmother's watch to a brand service centre, but a colleague suggested Horotempus. I'm glad I came here first. They found an appropriate replacement mainspring and were careful with the original dial. There is still a slight discolouration on the dial, but they explained it would be risky to address and advised against it. I respected that.

CASE STUDY 01 · MECHANICAL OVERHAUL
1980s Swiss Automatic: 20 Years Without Service
THE SITUATION
A well-kept Swiss automatic had not been serviced in over two decades. The owner had continued wearing it daily, but the reserve was declining and it was losing around six minutes per day.
WHAT WAS DONE
Full disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, and inspection revealed congealed lubricant on the pallet fork and escape wheel. The mainspring showed fatigue. Both were addressed. The movement was regulated in six positions after reassembly.
OUTCOME
Movement running within ±8 seconds per day across five positions. Full power reserve restored. Owner received written service record. Returned within the 5-week estimate.

1960s Military-Style Field Watch: Sourcing Period Parts
THE SITUATION
An heir brought in a 1960s field watch that had belonged to his grandfather. The crown was missing, the crystal was cracked, and the movement had stopped. He wanted it running again but was firm that the dial's original patina should not be disturbed.
WHAT WAS DONE
We sourced a period-appropriate crown through a European parts network over three weeks. The acrylic crystal was matched to the original profile. The movement received a full overhaul. The dial was left entirely untouched.
OUTCOME
Movement running reliably. Crown and crystal period-appropriate. Dial patina and handset preserved intact. The owner described it as looking as his grandfather must have remembered it. Completed in 11 weeks.

Daily-Worn Sports Watch: Crystal and Case Refresh
THE SITUATION
A daily-wear watch had accumulated a deep scratch across the mineral crystal and the brushed surfaces of the case had become dulled through years of contact. The owner wanted it refreshed without losing the brushed finish character.
WHAT WAS DONE
New mineral crystal fitted with fresh gaskets. Case refinishing carried out using directional brushing that matched the original finish. Polished bevels re-polished only where they met the brushed flanks, preserving the finish boundary.
OUTCOME
Crystal clear, case refreshed without looking over-polished. Returned in 16 days. The owner noted it looked "well-maintained" rather than "new," which was exactly the brief.
